Here’s the third page. Eventually, I’ll put these all in one place.

Spirit Bond- Character Redesign in Progress
I’ve taken up the challenge I issued for myself back in January about pushing character design. This is still very much in progress, but I feel great about a lot of the changes I’ve made. I’ll start with the awesomest of them all.
Mango is looking pretty fantastic, if I do say so myself.
Next up is Araya! I think I finally found an outfit that just seems spot on for her. I’m so pleased.
I also doodled Lauren in her new outfit, and messed with her face style and body type. I’m still not totally satisfied, buuuut… *big shrug*
And lastly… the guy i wanted to make the most progress with… I haven’t quite figured out. Truth be told, the more I broaden Kay’s shoulders and manly-fy him, the less I like him. I might have to make him more unique in a different direction, haha… But just so you know that I’ve been trying, here’s the latest image (with a bald Araya, Kay and Mango in the back ground to compare heights).
I just realized that it’s been a long time since I’ve drawn Kaipo. I hope he’s not off in a corner somewhere crying. Don’t worry Kaipo, love, you are not forgotten!
Spirit Bond- Page 1 redone
Here it is! Redone and much, much better! The first page of my comic!
I’m so excited! Things are coming together and I’m learning a ton. Spirit Bond is going to rock.
Spirit Bond- Page 1 Value Test
This is going to be page 1 of my comic. It’s the value test for it, anyway. I’m not totally satisfied, and I’m a bit mystified as to what to do with it when it comes to color, but I feel like it’s a decent start.
Spirit Bond- Kaipo Redesign
And here’s our darling Kaipo! Isn’t he cute? And kind of… epic? At least in this pose.
I tried really hard to make both Kaipo and Mango more epic when I redesigned them. At least in their true forms. They aren’t always all glowy and mystical, as you can see in the lineup. Alas, I still haven’t figured out their exact rules yet. I should probably get on that.
Anyway, I present to you Spirit Bond’s most adorable hero: Kaipo!
Spirit Bond- Mango Redesign
When redesigning my spirits, things got a bit more complicated. You see, there’s only so much you can do visually with a human character, but with a spirit, the possibilities are endless!
My illustration teacher suggested I combine Mango with something a little more beastly and magical. That’s what tried to do, butI don’t think I took itfar enough yet. What do you guys think? How could I make Mango’s design more…. awesome?
Spirit Bond- Kay Redesign
Towards the end of the semester, I colored this picture of Kay, one of the main spirit summoners. I changed up his nose a bit. He looks like even more of a punk now. Soooo…. I’ve done well.
Main Character Line-up
Here they are, lined up again, in all their beauty: Mango, Araya, Kay, and Kaipo. They’re my darlings. Most of the design changes are in their clothing. I made Kay’s skin a little darker too. DIVERSITY!
It’s fun to watch your characters change. They’re growing up!
Araya- Design Change 2
I made some more final design changes regarding Araya’s body shape. Look at them legs! I don’t know why, but I love drawing shapely (is that even the right word? Haha…) legs.
